As soon as I saw this patinated component hit our shelves, I knew what I wanted to do with it. This rarely happens, I am usually left pondering how I want to use something that I really like. The component I used is perfect for a dream catcher-y pendant. You can use a different "catcher," just make sure it has an open center and openings around the perimeter for tying on threads. Please note that this pendant won't be an effective dream catcher because it lacks the required woven web :)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Gather your fibers you want to include in your piece. You will notice that I have gold thread in mine. I was able to do this by simply untwining the metallic hemp, using the metallic and natural separate from each other. I feel like this adds more of a feathery whimsical touch.

Step 2

Tie your fibers along the bottom of the focal component. I recommend stringing the thread through the hole, gathering your 2 ends, then tying an overhand knot snug to the hole.

Step 3

Add a feather to the center string, then add your other charms & beads to the strings. Make sure you don't overload your strings with beads, you want to maintain wisp status :)

Step 4

Attach a bail or a couple jump rings to the top of your focal, and string your leather or ribbon through.

Step 5

Choose the longest length you would want your necklace to hang and trim the leather. Take the opposing ends and string through at least 4 jump rings (keep your number even). Knot each end of leather. Split the rings evenly, keeping each set close to the knots. Pull the knots to tighten the cord.
